Umety offers an extensive immersive library with modules pre-loaded on the VR headset. With our vast AR/VR library, educators can cater to the needs of the most advanced students by challenging them with more ideas, helping average students deepen their understanding, motivating struggling students, and providing unique learning opportunities to students with special needs.

Types of content: an insight

Virtual reality content comes in five flavours, and it is important to understand what this means, and the pros and cons of each type.

Type A

Passive, simple, a constituent part of a learning module, but not a lesson unto itself. Something to look at and rotate. Akin to a singular image in a textbook.

Type B

Use a 360°camera and take a picture. Similar to a singular image in a textbook, except that it is immersive (you are in the center of the image).

Type C

Immersive, realistic, and gives a deeper sense of "being there." May have some interactivity, different scenes, and more textual information. However, the user is bound to the camera, and huge file sizes make these tougher to manage.

Type D

This type of content is immersive, semi-realistic, and gives a sense of being there. The user is bound to the camera, which removes freedom.

Type E

This represents what the vast majority of educators imagine when speaking about immersive learning. A fully interactive, engrossing virtual environment that promotes student engagement with difficult topics, presented in a distraction-free, judgment-free way.
